Rapid Colour

Rich Colour. Smooth Finish. Lasting Beauty.

Rapid Colour is a commercial, historical classification for stabilized azoic printing compositions used to generate vibrant, insoluble azo dyes directly inside textile fibers during printing. Instead of applying a pre-made dye, Rapid Colour pastes contain a precisely engineered, inactive physical mixture of two distinct chemical precursors: a stabilized diazo component (often temporarily blocked with an amino acid or sulfonate group) and a coupling component (typically a Naphtol derivative).

Because the diazo component is chemically masked, the two chemicals coexist peacefully in the printing paste without reacting. Once printed onto cellulosic fabric, the textile is subjected to an acid aging or acid steaming process. The acidic, hot environment cleaves the stabilizing group, instantly activating the diazo component, which rapidly couples with the Naphtol inline. This creates a highly insoluble color pigment trapped inside the fiber cells, offering brilliant reds, oranges, and barks with good fastness properties.
